About

FREE is a Freshmen Leadership Organization (FLO) compromised of 70 freshmen and 17 upperclassmen leaders created for the purpose of developing leadership and forming a community of freshmen within the college of engineering. The organization serves to create events that promote the unity and leadership of all freshman engineers. 

Meet the Committees

Advancement

Advancement in the committee put in place for the professional advancement of the freshmen. They are in charge of planning the plant trips, speaker meetings, and assassins, a game we play during the year. They will also be responsible for pairing with External to organize a roundtable event with a panel of students and advisors from the different colleges withing engineering, making the event available to all freshmen engineering students in both the fall and spring semesters.

Development

Development is the committee responsible for professionally developing the freshmen by coordinating events with mentors. The D-ment counselots will be responsible for the PHAT Family program, planning socials for the families. D-ment is also completely in charge of Shack-a-thon.

External

External is the face of FREE to the outside world. They must promote as many events as possible to the FLOs and engineering student organizations etc. They are responsible for head fronting recruitment in the fall. They also are in charge of designing and ordering FREE apparel. They will also be responsible for pairing with Advancement to organize a roundtable event with a panel of students and advisors from the different colleges within engineering, making the event available to all freshmen engineering students in both the fall and spring semesters.

Raise

Raise is in charge of Fundraising. We have to have money to do fun things! Mainly they are responsible for profit shares and other fundraisers. This means that Raise is in charge of scheduling and coordinating fundraising events in the community. We will also pair with a philanthropy of Raise’s choosing and work with them throughout the year through events planned by Raise.

Internal

Internal is the gear that keeps the FREE machine ticking. They are in charge of sending out weekly emails, planning all meetings (including tradition’s council representatives), intramurals, and keeping track of attendance at meetings. They are in charge of making the Creeper Card and a power point/slideshow for the end of the year. Internal keeps FREE organized and lets the freshmen know what is going on. Internal is also in charge of organizing Winter and Spring Trip and planning committee dates.

Service

Service keeps the freshmen involved in philanthropic events both university-wide and throughout the community. Service events include, but are not limited to, Replant, Big Event, Relay for Life, and other various 5K races. One service event should be held each month either on campus or in the community. The Service committee is also in charge of street clean up. 

Socials

Socials is in charge of… take a wild guess… Socials! We hope to build relationships between the freshmen and socials gives them opportunities to do so. Mainly they are responsible for retreats ( fall and spring), the Christmas party, monthly Girls/Guys night, road trips, and a FREE ticket pull to a football game. Socials keep FREE fun.

Executives

Executives oversee all of the things the committees do. They are here to support and help the counselors when they might need it. The Execs help make FREE the best it can be.
